Family Photo Session - Portland CT

Had a fantastic time with this photo session for some friends in town.  When the children are slightly older, its so much easier to concentrate on capturing great poses instead of just trying to have the child stand still long enough for one or two photos.

I ended up with a lot more keepers then I originally thought.  Thanks again to the family for letting me do these for them.

Westfield Falls - Middletown CT

The weather in this area has been very wet for the last few weeks.  I've been wanting to check out this spot for a while now and the current storm let up for roughly two hours, just enough time for me to get to this location, figure out a couple of spots, and shoot some long exposure.  Happy I did!

This first one is from the lower section of the falls.  This is where I started.

I worked my way up to the top of the falls, to capture what I am calling the "Triple Play"

After several spots, I was pretty satisfied with my results, so just as I decided to leave, the rain started coming down again.  Just in time for me to get out of there.

Family Photoshoot

I had been trying to get together with some friends to do a family photo shoot.  If you're ever asked to do a family photo shoot for three kids, all under the age of 6, run as fast as you can and hide somewhere........ just kidding.  I actually am pretty use to it, as its exactly what I deal with all the time in my own household.

We somehow had the same idea that shooting at or around a barn would be a good spot.  I scouted out several in our town and found this one to be very good for light from pretty much the 4 o'clock hour on.  The challenge with three kids is always getting them all on the same page at the same time.  It's always two good and one bad, or one good and two bad, or no good and I'm looking for a beer.  I found that if I got them all close to being in a good pose, I would just fire off as many shots as possible and pray for a few good smiles.  In the end it all worked out and I ended up with a lot more keepers then originally thought.  This pic was the main idea I was looking for, and I think it works for what the family wanted also (which is always a good thing!)
